Cabinet & Glass Door Aluminum Profile Buying Guide

Define profile-only or complete glass-door supply, section dimensions, glass and hinge interfaces, finish, sample evidence and written quote terms.

Choose the delivered item first

Extruded profile only
Identify the section code and controlled drawing, material condition, supplied length, finish and quantity unit. Glass, hinges and assembly are separate unless expressly included.
Cut or machined frame members
Specify cut angles, lengths, holes, corner joints, deburring and finish sequence. Ask whether corners, seals and other accessories are supplied with the members.
Frame and accessory kit
Request the bill of materials, quantities, hardware models and assembly instructions. Identify who provides the glass and who checks the assembled fit.
Complete glass cabinet door
Agree overall dimensions, glass specification, hinge and handle interfaces, assembled condition, acceptance tests, protective packing and installation responsibility. An extrusion offer alone does not establish this scope.

Build a controlled drawing and interface package

Information to send before comparing offers
RequirementBuyer recordAvoid this assumption
Section geometryDrawing revision, units, visible frame width, overall section depth, wall thickness, glass pocket and mating featuresA family name such as 20mm is not a controlled cross-section drawing.
Glass interfaceGlass type and thickness, edge work, dimensions, clearances, gasket or bonding system, supplied-by partySeparate frame depth from aluminum wall thickness; 18mm and 1.8mm describe different possible dimensions.
Door and hardwareDoor overall size, opening direction, hinge model, fixing method, quantity and counterpart cabinet detailsA hinge cup diameter alone does not prove compatibility with the frame or assembly.
Material and finishAlloy, temper, applicable specification, finish process, agreed color sample and masked interfacesAn alloy designation does not establish an aerospace qualification, strength value or finished-part performance.
Delivered conditionProfile lengths, cut members, kit or complete doors; machining, glass, hardware, packing and quantity unitKeep tooling and trials separate from recurring material and assembly charges.

Use one revision for the section drawing, door layout and hardware references. Mark unresolved items as supplier proposals requiring review. Images explain appearance but do not establish dimensions, allowable size or hardware compatibility.

Ask for evidence that matches the supplied item

Material and dimensions
Request material records and dimensional inspection tied to the agreed alloy, temper, specification, section and batch. Agree critical features and measurement methods; a blanket tolerance headline does not define acceptance.
Glass and claimed certification
Identify the actual glass processor, product type, thickness and supplied batch. For any certification claim, request its identifier, issuer, covered manufacturer and product, scope and validity, and check applicability to the destination and use. A 3C mention in old copy is not evidence for the supplied door.
Finish and appearance
Agree a color and texture reference, visible-face requirements and acceptance records. Discuss exposure and cleaning conditions; do not accept an unsupported lifetime corrosion or color guarantee.
Assembly sample review
Compare the agreed trial item to the drawing and bill of materials. Check dimensional fit, glass retention, corners, hardware interfaces, opening/closing and surface appearance using the agreed review process. Have the responsible reviewer define application-specific safety and release requirements.
Production release
Record sample identity, drawing revision, findings, corrective actions and approval owner. Resolve changes before release and retain the accepted evidence for repeat orders.

Resolve the quote questions in writing

What does the minimum order apply to?
Ask for the unit and basis: profile weight, cut pieces, kits or complete doors; per section, finish or order split. Confirm trial quantity and whether conversion work has a separate minimum.
What starts the lead time?
Record the trigger: drawing agreement, payment, material availability, tooling, glass fabrication or sample approval. Ask which party commits each milestone and what is excluded.
Are glass, hinges and packing included?
Use an explicit inclusion list and bill of materials. Compare delivered units consistently; a kilogram price and a complete-door price describe different scopes.
Are the sample, die revision and warranty free?
Request the actual written terms, covered work, limits, freight responsibility and repeat-order conditions. This guide does not promise free services or a platform-wide warranty.
Does a company listing prove it can supply this assembly?
No. Editorial company records support research. Verify the contracting entity, actual production and subcontracting locations, drawing-specific response and supplied-item evidence.
Can I rely on a catalog strength or temperature claim?
Request the test method, report and product scope. Do not transfer generic alloy data or glass properties to a complete cabinet door without application-specific evidence.

Use the existing references to ask better questions

These legacy references are not verified stock offers or certification evidence. Existing images are retained for visual context.

Take the requirement into supplier research and an inquiry

In the inquiry brief, identify the cabinet/glass-door application, supplied-item boundary, controlling drawing, glass and hardware interfaces, trial and repeat quantities, destination and unresolved questions. Downloads and email links require your action; the site does not send or forward inquiries automatically.

Hydro explains that alloy properties vary with temper and provides alloy-specific technical sheets. This supports asking for material and specification records; it does not validate the legacy product dimensions or a supplier order.
