Start with the delivered scope
Two prices are comparable only when the delivered scope is clear. First record differences in product, processing, quantity, acceptance and delivery; then ask suppliers to resolve the gaps.

Build the requirement
- Delivered item
- Compare form, alloy, temper, dimensions, drawing revision and delivered processing stage. Record any alternative separately from an exact-match offer.
- Price basis
- Request currency, quotation unit and the quantity to which the price applies. Ask whether material, processing, packing and other stated charges are included.
- One-time items
- Keep tooling, fixtures, samples and initial approval charges separate from repeat-production charges. Ask how design revisions would be handled.
- Order scope
- Record minimum order conditions, proposed batch sizes, quantity assumptions and the point at which the quoted schedule starts.
- Delivery scope
- Identify the stated delivery basis, destination and responsibility for transport arrangements. Resolve missing information with the supplier rather than assuming it.
- Acceptance and exclusions
- Compare documents, sample stages, specified checks, subcontracted operations and all exclusions. Save the quotation revision and validity date with the comparison.
Questions for the supplier
- Question 1Would both suppliers deliver the same finished item and documentation?

Avoid these comparison gaps
- Do not compare a per-piece quote with a weight-based quote without an agreed conversion basis.
- A short quoted schedule may start only after tooling, samples or material approval.
- Treat an incomplete low price as a clarification task, not as a confirmed saving.
