Define what the supplier actually delivers

  • Stock form and dimensions

State round, square, rectangular or another section; include the actual dimensions and units. Specify straight lengths or coils, finished length, permitted variation and required end condition.

  • Material condition and subsequent work

Identify the alloy, temper and product specification. Tell the supplier whether you intend machining, drawing, joining or another operation, and request confirmation against your controlled requirements.

  • Surface and documentation

Specify handling marks, straightness and surface condition where they affect use. Agree batch identification, inspection documents and any protective packing needed at the receiving site.

Questions that change the quotation

Conductor or mechanical stock?
Do not infer electrical performance from a generic rod or wire label. For conductor use, state the applicable product and connection requirements and required evidence.
Processing scope
Identify whether the delivered item is as-produced stock, cut material, drawn stock or a finished component. Separate these operations in the quotation.
Delivered quantity
Agree net weight or piece-count basis, coil limits, cutting allowances and permitted over- or under-delivery.
