Aluminum for Automotive & Mobility
Build a drawing-led enquiry for sheet parts, extrusions, castings or forgings, with the customer's approval and change-control requirements kept explicit.

Inputs for a useful supplier conversation
- Customer and part identity
- State the customer part reference, drawing revision and intended component role. Identify who has authority to approve supplier proposals.
- Supplied state
- Distinguish raw material, a formed or cast preform, a machined component and an assembly. Define the boundary of the proposed supplier's work.
- Approval process
- Ask the customer which sample, inspection and production-approval documents are required. Do not infer customer acceptance from a general supplier quality claim.
- Critical characteristics
- Mark drawing-controlled dimensions, surfaces and other characteristics requiring specific checks. The customer or design owner must establish the actual limits.
- Traceability and changes
- Define lot identification and requirements for changes to alloy, tooling, process route or subcontracted operations. Ask how these changes are disclosed and approved.
- Delivery programme
- Provide trial and series quantities separately, timing assumptions, packaging and delivery sequence. Confirm schedule and capacity for this request in writing.
Three comparison traps
Blanket vehicle qualification
A company that lists aluminum products is not thereby qualified for every vehicle component. Request evidence relevant to the actual customer, part and manufacturing operation.
Mixing trial and recurring costs
Identify sample, tooling, validation and recurring production charges separately. Compare the same approval scope and production assumptions.
Substitution without authorization
A similar alloy designation or visible shape does not establish interchangeability. Refer proposed changes to the responsible design and customer approval process.
Move from requirements to sourcing
Choose the relevant product form, then review the manufacturing and acceptance boundary. Related links are research routes, not confirmation of stock, suitability or supplier qualification for this application.
Evidence boundary and references
These are AlumHome editorial procurement questions, not a design calculation, regulatory determination or approval of the complete product. The responsible project or product professional must set the applicable design and acceptance requirements. No universal performance value or certification claim is made.
