Define what the supplier actually delivers
Bare foil or converted material?
Specify whether the requirement is uncoated foil, coated foil, laminated stock or a finished packaging component. Describe the complete layer construction where relevant; these are not interchangeable scopes.
Geometry and surface
State thickness, width, roll length or mass, core dimensions, winding direction and the surface sides that matter. Identify pinhole, cleanliness or appearance requirements and their agreed assessment method.
Use and acceptance
Describe the intended contents, contact conditions, temperature exposure and converting steps. Request product-specific evidence for the intended use rather than assuming a material designation establishes suitability.
Questions that change the quotation
- Functional evidence
- If barrier, seal or forming performance matters, identify how the finished construction will be tested and who sets the acceptance criteria.
- Packaging format
- Give the receiving-line roll limits and handling method. Agree labels, end protection and how mixed lots are separated.
- Scope exclusions
- Ask whether coating, lamination, printing, testing and converting are included. A raw foil quotation should not be compared directly with a finished-packaging offer.
